GUIDE | Unlock the bootloader of Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2 for free

Nokia 7.2 Bootloader Unlock

We all are aware that Nokia Mobile doesn't officially allow bootloader unlocking and the available unofficial method is a paid process. This is the reason Nokia smartphones have a bad reputation among users who want more control over their devices and love to play with different ROMs and customization options.

Things are about to change for good with the Nokia 7.2 as the device comes with an unlockable bootloader that can be unlocked in a very simple way. Below are the steps to unlock the bootloader of the Nokia 7.2.

  • If you don't know what this then stop right here as this isn't for you. But if you want to read no one can stop you. :)
  • Unlocking the bootloader will void your warranty and all the data on your phone will be erased.
Unlocking the bootloader of Nokia 7.2 is very simple and those familiar with the process will instantly what the steps are. Before you begin the process make sure you have a backup of your data and a charged-up phone.

Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 7.2 cannot be unlocked after the December 2019 MR update which has disabled the ability to unlock the bootloader on both these phones. If you want to unlock the bootloader you
will have to get downgrade the phone to an older release. This can be done at a Nokia Care or you can buy a remote flashing service from TechMesto.

Optional Critical Unlock

Critical Unlock is recommended as it allows recovering the device in case it gets bricked. To do a critical unlock, Enter download mode once again and type the following command in the Command Prompt window "fastboot flashing unlock_critical". Now, confirm the bootloader unlock again which will erase all the data and reboot your phone back to the Android system.

The bootloader of Nokia 7.2 can be unlocked with these simple steps and I hope this attracts buyers who look for an unlockable phone and the developer community to build ROMs and various other ports for this device. These steps might also work on the Nokia 6.2. So, if you are familiar with this stuff and have a Nokia 6.2 please try it and see if it works. :)
