HMD Global is on a roll this year. First Nokia 1, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 7 plus, Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 8110 4G were announced during MWC in February. Then Nokia X6 was launched in China followed by the global launch of Nokia 2.1, 3.1 and 5.1. The newly launched Nokia 2.1, 3.1 and 5.1 haven't gone on sale in many markets yet. But HMD is already preparing for the launch of a new device.
A recent leak mentioned that the Nokia X5 aka the Nokia 5.1 plus will be launched on July 11th in China. Today, Nokia Mobile has confirmed it on Weibo. According to the post by them on Weibo, a new X series phone will be launched on July 11th. It will obviously be the Nokia X5 which recently passed the TENAA certification. Here's the post:
Nokia X5 will be the second phone under the X series, after Nokia X6. Nokia X5 will sport an almost bezel-less 19:9 HD+ display with a notch. The post also includes a teaser image, shown below, which questions, "What makes it playing games nicely?" Looks like Nokia Mobile will be marketing Nokia X5 as a budget phone with a good gaming performance. We expect Nokia X5 to have MediaTek Helio P60, which should offer a smooth performance without any lags.
This poster was also found on JD, Suning and TMall, which confirms that Nokia X5 will be available from all these three online stores. As per the previous leak, the Chinese pricing is expected to range from CNY 799 to CNY 999. We translated the text in the image above using Google Translate and as per the translation, Nokia X5 will be available in an open sale and the sale is said to start at 21:05 on 11th July.
