Nokia's Android One phones gain Google ARCore support

ARCore is Google’s platform for building augmented reality experiences. Using different APIs, ARCore enables your phone to sense its environment, understand the world and interact with information. ARCore requires Android 7.0 or later and access to the Google Play Store.

During the recent event in Moscow, HMD Global announced that Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 8 Sirocco are already ARCore certified while Nokia 7 Plus will get it soon. ARCore integration allows Android smartphones to become compatible with more than 300 Augmented reality games available in Google Play Store.

The version 1.3 of the ARCore app supports the following Nokia phones:

  • Nokia 6.1
  • Nokia 7 plus
  • Nokia 8 Sirocco
You can install the ARCore App from Play Store by clicking the link below.

We were able to install the ARCore app from the Play store on our 7 plus and tried some AR apps. Everything worked pretty fine. If you own any of these three Nokias, do install ARCore and share your experience the AR apps in the comments below!
